Funding Opportunities for Ethnically Diverse Artists

A day of talks and information sessions by leading Arts Organisations on funding opportunities available to ethnically diverse artists of all genres.

The Information Clinic will take place in the Centre For Creative Practices on 27 September 2013 from 10am to 7pm. Local arts organisations which offer Funding and/or other Opportunities for artists will be running their specific presentations during the day and each speaker will have up to 20 minutes for their talk followed by 20 minutes Q/A. The presentations will focus on practical matters related to the application process including the deadlines, application forms, assessment criteria and case studies of the successful applications. There will also be the facility for information booths to be available to each participating organisation and the event will be free to artists of all genres.

The event falls into the ethos of CFCP where for the past 4 years the Centre for Creative Practices, has been the home and catalyst for immigrant, experimental and emerging artists in Ireland. CFCP provides a Creative, Supportive and Inclusive environment and multidisciplinary programme focused on integration of different societies through arts and culture.

Profitable Artist - Artist as Entrepreneur: Boot Camp

The “Artist as Entrepreneur: Boot Camp” programme addresses in a very practical way the core aspects of artistic entrepreneurship and business skills and serves to make artists self-sufficient, to build strong careers in the arts.”

For the first time, the Centre for Creative Practices has invited the staff of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) to Dublin, to present a complete “how-to” guide to being a professional and profitable working artist.

Professional Development

TOPICS:  Strategic Planning for Artists, Marketing and use of Social Media to promote one’s art career, Fundraising Strategies (Grants, Awards, Residencies, Fellowships, and Individual Donations/Sponsorships), International Artist Legal Issues (Copyright and Trademark), and other discipline-specific classes and consultations by NYFA staff

Future Opportunities

Participants will have forged a link with the New York and international arts market and will be encouraged and coached to pursue available international opportunities, and to create a bridges to expose US artists to the Dublin art scene. Selected participants will have also a chance to exhibit their work in the NYFA’s acclaimed Brooklyn space
